Freelance Photographer at NEMO Equipment

Garret Smith has a diverse work experience, starting in 2003 as a USFS Wildland Fire Fighter for the US Forest Service. garret worked as a lead sawyer during their final season with the Hotshot Crew. After their time with the Forest Service, Garret worked as a Ski Lift Mechanic at Mount Shasta Ski Park, where they also served as a freelance photographer for the marketing department. In 2012, they worked as a Photographer, Photo Studio AC, and additional camera operator for Roundhouse agency. During this time, they were responsible for candid and lifestyle/adventure photography for offsite campaigns and occasional product photography in the studio. Garret also had freelance photography roles with several companies including NEMO Equipment, Patagonia, YETI Coolers, and Outdoor Life Magazine. From 2015 to 2019, they worked as a Photographer, Camera Operator, Assistant Producer, Assistant Camera, and Swing Tech for Zero Point Zero Production Inc. In 2018, Garret also worked as a freelance photographer for National Geographic. Starting in 2019, they joined National Geographic as a Swing Tech, sound mixer, and camera operator. Throughout their career, Garret has traveled extensively to pursue their passion for photography and adventure.

Garret Smith attended the University of Montana from 2001 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photojournalism. garret completed their Bachelor's degree in Photojournalism during this time and focused their studies in this field.
