Jane Mericle

Jane M. Mericle is Chief Nurse Executive at Nemours/ Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware in Wilmington Del., and Patient Operations Officer for Nemours Delaware Valley operations. She is a member of the Executive Cabinet, reporting to Nemours President and Chief Executive Officer, R. Lawrence Moss, MD. In this role, she establishes and implements a vision for nursing care and standards for nursing practice, and recently led the organization through Magnet redesignation. Jane is responsible for clinical operations, financial performance, professional development of nursing associates, program development, nursing research, as well as operations for Respiratory Care Services, the Sleep Lab, and Pharmacy.

Jane brings more than 40 years of healthcare experience to her role and is certified in Executive Nursing Practice with expertise in clinical quality and patient safety, strategic planning, fiscal accountability, operational management Magnet designation performance improvement, patient experience, and inter-professional collaboration. Jane is a TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer, a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, an executive leader for LEAN, and she completed the Disparities Leadership Program sponsored by Massachusetts General Hospital. She served on the Board of Trustees for Mercy Children’s Hospital Services in Missouri for six years and is now the president of the Board of Directors, American Heart Association for the Delaware Division, New Castle County.

Jane completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice program at Vanderbilt School of Nursing, earned her Master’s of Health Science in Clinical Leadership from Duke University School of Medicine, and her BSN from Columbia University.
