Dr. Björn Schwalb

Dr. Björn Schwalb has a diverse work experience in the field of biotechnology and molecular biology. Dr. Björn is currently serving as the Head of Biostatistics at NEOsphere Biotechnologies since 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Evotec as a Senior Research Scientist from November 2020 to May 2022, where they led a team of data scientists and was responsible for implementing statistical data analysis and presenting results to external customers.

From November 2016 to October 2020, Dr. Schwalb was a Project Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, where they worked in the Department of Molecular Biology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Patrick Cramer. Before that, they served as a Research Associate in the same institute from November 2014 to October 2016.

Dr. Schwalb started their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Gene Center Munich, LMU - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, from July 2012 to October 2014, where they worked under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Patrick Cramer. Overall, Dr. Björn Schwalb has gained extensive experience in leading research projects, conducting statistical data analysis, and collaborating with internal and external scientists.

Dr. Björn Schwalb earned their PhD in Bioinformatics/Biochemistry from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München between 2008 and 2012. Prior to that, they pursued their Diplom in Mathematik from Goethe University Frankfurt from 2002 to 2008. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Regression Models, Machine Learning, and Statistical Inference from Coursera in August 2020 and July 2020, respectively.
