Josh Knackert has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Josh started their career as a Graduate Trainee at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they worked in the lab of Dr. Su-Chun Zhang on a project related to Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Josh then worked as a Communications Intern at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) before becoming a Business Consultant at wisolve for a short period.
In 2017, Josh joined AAAS as a Community Engagement Fellow and was hosted at WIPAC as the Diversity, Inclusion, and Career Mentoring Fellow. Josh also worked as a Freelance Science Writer at The American Geosciences Institute during this time. Josh continued their commitment to diversity and inclusion by becoming a Diversity, Inclusion, and Career Mentoring Fellow at the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center, where they established and fostered a community dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusion within the international IceCube collaboration.
Josh then worked as a Program Administrator (Interim) and Outreach Specialist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they managed research, drafting, and submission of proposals and supervised office assistants. Josh also developed and implemented public outreach events, seminar series, and neuroscience initiatives.
In 2019, they transitioned to SVA Bio-Ops | Emerging Life Science as a Consultant, specializing in Lab/R&D Subject Matter Expert, Project/Program Manager, and Business Analyst. Josh crafted data-driven solutions with a focus on cross-functional dependencies.
In 2022, Josh joined NephroDI Therapeutics, Inc. as the Head Patient Advocacy Liaison and Scientific Advisory Board member. Josh currently serves in this role.
Most recently, Josh has been working at Exact Sciences since 2021. Josh started as a Medical Education and Grants Specialist and later became a Medical Education Senior Manager, where they defined and executed corporate-level external medical education strategy in collaboration with C-suite. Josh also contributed to the creation and distribution of external educational materials and served as an external education liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, they took on a short-term assignment as a Rare Disease Commercial Support Specialist.
Josh Knackert has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Cellular and Molecular Pathology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Josh also has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Microbiology, General from the same institution. Additionally, they hold a certification in WI Idea Stem Fellows from Portal to the Public at UW-Madison.
