Vice President Human Resources at Nerd United

Deven Downey has a diverse work experience spanning different companies and roles in the field of Human Resources. They most recently served as the Vice President of Human Resources at Nerd United starting in 2023. Prior to that, from 2021 to 2023, they held the position of Senior Manager of Human Resources at Openly, where they provided consultation in various HR areas, managed a team of HRBPs, and helped implement a new HRIS system.

Before joining Openly, Deven worked at Tesla as the Senior Human Resources Business Partner, Lead from 2021 to 2021. In this role, they served as a strategic lead for the HRBP team, provided consultation in various HR areas, and managed a team of HRBPs supporting the Energy organization.

From 2019 to 2021, Deven worked at Young Living Essential Oils as the Manager of Human Resources and Senior Human Resources Business Partner. Their responsibilities included leading a team of HRBPs and Generalists, executing organizational design changes, and collaborating across functions to rewrite the Employee Handbook.

In 2019, Deven also worked at HONK Technologies as the Manager of Human Resources. They coached the young leadership team, developed plans to increase morale and engagement, and established paths for employee promotion and development.

Prior to that, from 2017 to 2019, Deven worked at DISH Network as a Human Resources Advisor, where they were involved in position leveling, employee orientation and training, and optimizing job duties for productivity.

From 2015 to 2017, Deven was a Human Resources Business Partner at Vivint Smart Home. They partnered with cross-functional departments, analyzed workforce key performance indicators, and administered HR plans and procedures.

Deven's work experience also includes a role as the Human Resources Manager at Heritage Schools from 2012 to 2015. In this position, they created an HR Playbook, designed and executed trainings for leaders, and advised leadership on various HR matters.

Deven Downey obtained a Bachelor's Degree in History from Utah Valley University, where they studied from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's Degree in Human Resource Management at Colorado State University Global, attending from 2016 to 2018.
