SVP A&r And Creative Operations at Nettwerk Music Group

Tom Gates has had an extensive work history in the music industry. Tom started their career at Roadrunner Records as a Metal, Alternative & Video Promoter from 1992 to 1995. Tom then moved on to Arista Records, where they worked as the Director of Rock, Alternative & AAA Promotion from 1996 to 1999. In 2000, they joined Nettwerk Music Group as an Artist Manager and Head of Promotion, where they managed artists such as Brand New, The Format, and fun., while also promoting well-known artists like Sarah McLachlan, Dido, Coldplay, and Avril Lavigne. In 2008, they transitioned to Matador Network, where they served as the Editor of Matador Nights and a Staff Writer, contributing to the company's growth and success in the travel industry. Tom returned to Nettwerk Music Group in 2012, taking on roles as an Artist Manager/A&R, SVP A&R and Strategy, and currently as the SVP A&R and Creative Operations.

Tom Gates attended Central Connecticut State University from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In addition, they obtained a certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from Oxford Seminars in October 2009. Most recently, in August 2020, they completed a certification in Sketch Comedy Writing from The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
