Carlos Hernandez has worked in the field of mechanical engineering since 2007. In 2007, they were a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Northrop Grumman Space Technology, where they designed an electronics hardware cabinet for test equipment. In 2008, they worked as a Mechanical Engineer at BAE Systems, where they were the Mechanical Design and Onsite Manufacturing Support Lead for a DX rated Armored Split Hatch contract. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Mechanical Engineer - Product Design at Ubiquiti Networks, where they were the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer from concept to production of EdgePoint-R8/-S16/-R6 outdoor routers/switches and accessories for mass production. Since 2016, they have been a Principle Mechanical Design Engineer at Networked Energy Services (NES) Corporation, where they are responsible for mechanical hardware design for electrical meters, design of injection molded and sheet metal parts, and production fixtures and jigs.

Carlos Hernandez attended Soquel High School from 1999 to 2003, and then Stanford University from 2003 to 2007, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
