An-Me Chung

An-Me Chung is the director of Teaching, Learning & Tech and strategic advisor to the Education Policy program at New America. Her efforts focus on research and policies for how in and out of school educators and other professionals can use digital media and technologies to support equitable systems of learning from pre-K into post-secondary years.

An-Me builds networks and spearheads public-private partnerships and alliances with CEOs, senior government leaders, philanthropists, researchers, technologists, policymakers, and community leaders and practitioners to bring education and technology opportunities to all young people. She has led the Dr. Seuss Foundation, Knowledge Alliance, Amplifier, and Digital Harbor Foundation through organizational development and strategic planning. As a CSforALL fellow, she spearheaded development of equitable computer science education ecosystems the country. At the Mozilla Foundation, she forged partnerships and led the development of core curriculum and global digital literacy and 21st century skills standards and credentials. She managed initiatives at the MacArthur Foundation designed to improve student learning in digital media through partnerships with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

In addition, An-Me led education grantmaking at the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and partnered with the U.S. Department of Education through the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations to build the afterschool field by supporting training and technical assistance, research and evaluation, policy development, and public awareness and outreach. She directed the Save the Children Out-of-School Time Rural Initiative at the Wellesley Centers for Women.

Board service includes the Illinois Community College Board, FrameWorks Institute, Lemelson Foundation’s InventEd Advisory Group, Starfish Institute, Bridgebuilder Cinematic Arts Program, Midwest Chinese Family Camp, Nomi Network, IMS Global Digital Credentials Executive Board, Hive Digital Media Learning Fund, Grantmakers for Education, and Community Foundation of Greater Flint. An-Me is an alumni advisor and a Presidential Leadership Scholar, a program convened by Bill Clinton and George W. Bush to bring together leaders to help solve society’s greatest challenges.

She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Columbia University in social psychiatry and holds a PhD from Yale University in sociology and a BS in biology from Washington University in St. Louis.
