Sarah Baline

Program Officer, Fellows Program at NEW AMERICA

Sarah Baline is the program officer for New America’s Fellows Program. Her work includes managing the day-to-day operations of the program, developing and executing internal programs and public events, managing the communications portfolio that includes support of a monthly newsletter, providing general support to the annual Fellows Program selection process, tracking the impact and success of the program and the work of the National Fellows, as well as maintaining and managing the National Fellows’ alumni network.

Prior to joining New America as program manager, Baline spent 10 years as a bookseller and cultural event producer in Washington, D.C. She has spent much of her career in the publishing industry. Baline produced events for three of Washington, D.C.’s leading independent bookstores: Politics & Prose, Kramerbooks and Afterwords Cafe, and East City Bookshop. She also planned nationwide author tours, working as events coordinator for independent publishers Catapult, Counterpoint, and Soft Skull.

In her diverse event-related roles, Baline planned and executed over 1,000 events of various sizes and formats, including an intimate dinner for 35 with chef Alice Waters, and an evening with Justice Sonia Sotomayor for an audience of 1,500. Baline’s goal is to inform and inspire, fostering deep connections between audiences and speakers, no matter the event.

Baline graduated cum laude from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts with a degree in theater and dramatic literature.
