Michael McGovern, CPA

Michael McGovern, CPA has over 10 years of experience in the accounting field. In 2009, they began their career at Knutte & Associates, P.C. as a Staff Intern, where they were responsible for substantive testing of clients' internal controls and financials, risk assessments, administrative setup and completion of audits, attestation testing of student financial aid disbursement samples, and preparation of audit reports and footnote disclosures. In 2010, they were promoted to Associate - Audit & Tax and then to Senior Associate, where they were in charge of one engagement per week on average. In this role, they also assisted other fellow managers with attestations over student financial aid, tax return preparation for individuals and entities, governmental audits of park and school districts, consulting, payroll tax return filings, and general bookkeeping services.

In 2016, Michael co-founded OurCapsule, Inc. and served as the CFO. In 2018, they joined BKD CPAs & Advisors as a Senior Manager and Audit Manager. In 2020, they became the Controller for NewAmsterdam Pharma and an Advisor for FLIG, LLC. As an Advisor for FLIG, Michael provided strategic and financial advice.

Michael McGovern, CPA obtained their Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2009. Michael then went on to complete a Master of Accountancy and Information Technology & Control from the same institution in 2010. Additionally, they hold a Certified Public Accountant certification from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
