Javed Aslam Shami

Professor Javed Aslam Shami is a general surgeon with special interest in gastrointestinal and pelvic surgery. He has pioneered the use of prone-position abdominoperineal resections with biologic mesh augmentation for low rectal cancer and has extensive expertise in abdominal wall reconstruction and complex hernia repair.

His research interests include enhanced recovery protocols and multidisciplinary cancer care, with multiple publications in leading surgical journals and presentations at forums such as the St Mark’s Academic Surgical Forum.

In addition to his academic and clinical practice, Professor Shami has a distinguished record as an educator. As Honorary Lecturer at the Cardiff University Wales and Consultant Surgeon, he has trained more than 150 surgical residents and mentored numerous medical students.

His dedication to his work has earned him Mayors special citizenship Award 2005.

At Newanglia University, he leads the **Surgical Innovation & Training Programme**, integrating technological advancements into modern surgical practice.

He is a member of the **Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI)** and the **General Medical Council (GMC 4555566)**.
