Andrew Tyson

Director Of The Arts at New Canaan Country School

Andrew Tyson has held various positions in music education throughout their career. Andrew started as a Music Teacher at The American School of Madrid in 2004, followed by a role as a Music Teacher at GEMS American Academy - Abu Dhabi from 2008 to 2010. Andrew then worked as a Music Teacher at The Harvey School from 2011 to 2013. In 2013, they joined New Canaan Country School as a Music Teacher and later became the Director of the Arts in 2022. Andrew also worked as a Musical Theater Director at YPI Inc, a residential summer camp for the creative arts, from 2013 to 2017. Most recently, in 2020, they became the Director of Music at the University Glee Club of New York City.

Andrew Tyson has a Bachelor's degree in Music from Skidmore College, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003. Andrew then pursued a Master's degree in Music Education from Boston University from 2005 to 2007. In 2015, they attended Berklee College of Music to earn a Specialist Certificate in Live Sound Engineering. Additionally, in the same year, they completed a Continuing Education Unit program in Piano Tuning at the Hartford School of Music. Andrew Tyson has also obtained additional certifications, including "Learning Auto-Tune 8" and "Up and Running with Auto-Tune 8" from Lynda.com in September 2016.
