Laurie Smilack

Laurie Smilack has extensive experience in education, currently serving as the Upper Elementary Division Head at New City School since June 2018. Prior to this role, Laurie held various positions at The Lovett School from July 2004 to June 2018, including Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Lower School Assistant Principal, and Teacher and Department Head for 4th grade, 1st grade, and kindergarten. Laurie's earlier experience includes a position as a Fourth Grade Teacher at Community School from August 2001 to July 2004 and as a Preschool Teacher at Shirlee Green Pre-School from August 1998 to May 2001. Laurie holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Education from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on Curriculum Development and Assessment from Webster University.
