Vikki N. Spruill is currently the President & CEO at New England Aquarium. Prior to their current role, Spruill served as the President and CEO of the Council on Foundations from July 2012 to June 2018. The Council on Foundations is an organization that provides the opportunity, leadership and tools needed by philanthropic organizations to expand, enhance and sustain their ability to advance the common good. Spruill brings a deep background in nonprofit management, communications, and advocacy to the Council.

Spruill also served as the President and CEO of Ocean Conservancy from January 2006 to June 2012. Ocean Conservancy is an organization which educates and empowers citizens to take action on behalf of the ocean. From the Arctic to the Gulf of Mexico to the halls of Congress, Spruill led the organization’s efforts to advocate for sustainable solutions informed by sound science. Throughout their public sector career, Spruill has focused on making ocean issues accessible and engaging and on bringing science, political action and communications together to create a social and political climate for change and protect the ocean for future generations.

Vikki N. Spruill has a B.A. in Communications and Religious Studies from Loyola University New Orleans and an M.S. in Communications from the University of West Florida.
