VP, Education & Community Engagement at New Jersey Symphony

Marshell Jones Kumahor is the current VP of Education & Community Engagement at the New Jersey Symphony. Prior to their current role, Kumahor served as the Associate Program Director of Grantmaking at The Center for Arts Education, where they led all aspects of single- and multi-year grantmaking programs totaling nearly $10 million to more than 350 New York City public schools and 250 nonprofit organizations. Kumahor also served as the Program Coordinator for Residencies at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, coordinating and marketing multi-arts residency programs and performance series to public schools statewide with an estimated reach of 100 participating schools per year. Prior to their work in arts administration, Kumahor was an arts educator and consultant with Flying Star Arts, LLC, providing direct arts education services and program consulting to nearly twenty K-12 public schools, youth development organizations, and arts organizations in New York City and Northern New Jersey.

Marshall Jones Kumahor attended Stanford University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Marshell then attended the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned a Master of Arts in Anthropology. Marshell also holds a High School Diploma from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts.
