Juan Zavala

Juan Zavala joined New Markets Venture Partners in 2019 and is a Principal. He is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and executing new investment opportunities as well as supporting existing portfolio companies. He serves as a board observer for BetterLesson, Climb Credit, CreatorUp and KidztoPros.

Prior to New Markets, Juan was an Investment Analyst at Siguler Guff & Company, a multi-strategy private equity firm with over $13 billion in AUM. At Siguler Guff, Juan was actively involved in deal execution and analyzing and monitoring direct equity and fund investments for the firm’s Small Buyout Opportunities Funds, investing primarily in industrial, consumer, and healthcare companies. Prior to Siguler Guff, Juan was a Research Analytics Associate at Cambridge Associates, an independent investment consulting firm, where he researched and analyzed various private equity managers, strategies, and markets.

Juan holds a B.A. in Economics with honors and a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park and an M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship & Innovation from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a CFA Charterholder and a CAIA Charterholder. Juan is a dual citizen of both Peru and the U.S. and grew up in Germantown, Maryland.
