Rachael N. Lorenzo

Assistant Commissioner at New Mexico State Land Office

Rachael N. Lorenzo is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in nonprofit management and advocacy for women's rights, particularly within Native communities. As the Executive Director and co-founder of Indigenous Women Rising since November 2013, Rachael has successfully led initiatives to support Native individuals in obtaining abortion care. In addition to this role, Rachael serves as the Assistant Commissioner for the New Mexico State Land Office and the Chair of the Board of Directors for YWCA Middle Rio Grande. Previous positions include Policy Associate at Young Women United, Chairwoman of the Native American Democratic Caucus-New Mexico, and various roles in volunteer organizing and community engagement. Rachael holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from The University of New Mexico, along with an Associate degree from Central New Mexico Community College.
