Shamika M. Kelley, Ph.D., ABC-MB has extensive work experience in the field of forensic science. Shamika M. currently serves as the Crime Lab Director at the New Orleans Police Department since January 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Project Manager at The Council of State Governments from October 2022 to January 2023.

Shamika also has a strong background in forensic DNA analysis. Shamika M. worked at the Houston Forensic Science Center, Inc. for several years, starting as a Forensic DNA Analyst from September 2010 to October 2015. Shamika M. then served as the Sexual Assault Kit/Forensic Biology Supervisor from October 2015 to September 2018. Finally, they held the position of Forensic DNA Expert from September 2018 to January 2023.

In addition to their professional experience, Shamika pursued their education at Sam Houston State University from August 2018 to May 2022, where they were a Doctoral Student. Prior to this, they worked as a Lab Assistant at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth from June 2008 to May 2010, and as a Forensic Science Technician at ReliaGene Technologies from July 2007 to December 2007.

Shamika M. Kelley, Ph.D., ABC-MB has a strong educational background in the field of criminology and forensic genetics. Shamika M. earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Criminology from Sam Houston State University from 2018 to 2022. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Forensic Genetics from UNT Health Science Center from 2008 to 2010. Shamika M. completed their undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from 2003 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Shamika M. Kelley, Ph.D., ABC-MB has obtained two additional certifications. In 2019, they earned a certification in Forensic Biology/DNA from the Texas Forensic Science Commission, and in 2012, they became a Fellow of the American Board of Criminalistics through the AMERICAN BOARD OF CRIMINALISTICS INC.
