Michael Lueken

Associate Professor, Head Of Climate And Sustainability Governance Research at New Vision University

Michael Lueken has a strong background in climate and sustainability governance research. Michael is currently working as a Visiting Professor and the Head of Climate and Sustainability Governance Research at New Vision University. Prior to this, they also served as a Visiting Professor at the International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University.

In terms of research experience, Michael worked as a Research Associate at VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH from 2016 to 2023, focusing on various research projects. Michael was also a Research Associate at Deutsches Klima-Konsortium from 2014 to 2016, where they conceptualized and supervised the production of a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on climate change and its impacts.

Additionally, Michael served as a Lectureship at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2015 and participated in teaching and instructional design. Prior to this, they worked as the Geschäftsführer (Head) at Klima- und Energieakademie, where they founded a non-profit company and developed teaching concepts and exhibitions related to climate education and research.

Michael also has experience working as a Project Manager at Beratungs- und Servicegesellschaft Umwelt from 2011 to 2013, and as a PhD Student at PIK - Potsdam institute for Climate Impact Research from 2006 to 2010, where they focused on model-based development and analysis of climate mitigation strategies.

Michael Lueken pursued their education in various institutions and fields. Michael obtained their PhD (Dr.rer.oec.) in Economics (Wirtschaftswissenschaften) from Technische Universität Berlin, graduating in the year 2011. Prior to that, they attended Freie Universität Berlin from 2004 to 2006, focusing on Öffentliches und betriebliches Umweltmanagement (Public and Corporate Environmental Management). In 2001, Lueken earned their M.S. (Dipl.-Phys.) from Heidelberg University, specializing in Physics (Physik). Michael'sacademic journey began at Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 1998, where they studied Physics (Physik) until 2001.
