Lauren Axelrod (she/her)

Lauren Axelrod is an experienced legal professional currently serving as General Counsel at the New York City Bar Association since November 2018, following a tenure as Senior Legal Counsel. Prior to this role, Lauren served as Senior Counsel and Associate Counsel at Empire State Development from February 2014 to November 2018. Lauren's earlier experience includes positions as Associate General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel at the New York City Council from September 2006 to January 2014, and as an Associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel from October 2004 to September 2006. Lauren began their career as a Corps Member with AmeriCorps in the National Civilian Community Corps from October 2000 to July 2001. Educational qualifications include a J.D. from Cornell Law School and a B.A. with High Distinction in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia.
