Rebecca Klassen

Rebecca Klassen serves as Curator of Material Culture at the New-York Historical Society since June 2013, leading significant projects like Beatrice Glow's artist-in-residence initiative and the upcoming exhibition "When Our Rivers Meet." With experience as Associate Curator of Material Culture, Klassen contributed to various initiatives addressing contemporary social issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic and Black Lives Matter protests. Previous roles include Assistant Curator, where key exhibitions like "Stonewall 50" were developed, and a background in arts writing and editing. Educational credentials include an MA in Decorative Arts, Design History, and Material Culture from Bard Graduate Center and dual BAs from San Francisco State University in Art and an Individualized Major.
