Laura Popa is an experienced professional in resource planning and interconnection studies, currently serving as the Manager of Resource Planning at NYISO since 2001. In this role, Laura oversees New York's Grid Resource Planning Process, leading a team of engineers and utilizing simulation tools such as GE's MARS. Previously, as the Supervisor of Interconnection Studies, Laura managed numerous proposed generation and transmission projects, overseeing Interconnection Feasibility and System Impact Studies. Laura also held the position of Lead Planning Engineer in Interconnection Studies, where coordination among various stakeholders was essential in executing complex interconnection studies. Earlier in Laura's career, an engineering role at ISPE involved the preparation of bid documentation for High Voltage Substations and power plant monitoring systems. Laura Popa earned a Master's Degree in Power Systems Engineering from the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest.
