Frank Ronci

Vice President Engineering at New York Power Authority

Frank Ronci, PE has a diverse work experience in the power industry. Frank started their career as an Engineering Intern at the New York Power Authority in 2003. Frank then became an Electrical Engineer, completing various development assignments at NYPA operating facilities. Their work included roles such as Electrical Maintenance, Relay Test Engineer, Electrical/Test Engineer, and Operations Engineer.

In 2007, Frank transitioned to the role of a Protection & Control Engineer, where they were responsible for designing protection & control systems for bulk power transmission/generation systems. Frank also conducted coordination studies, performed testing and commissioning, and analyzed disturbances.

In 2013, Frank was promoted to Director of Metering, leading a team responsible for meter and communication system planning, engineering, installation, and testing. Frank oversaw the NYPA Meter Authority operation and was in charge of asset lifecycle planning and capital programs for meter upgrades throughout the NYS bulk electric system.

From 2017 until the present, Frank served as the Sr. Director of Electrical & Controls Engineering at the New York Power Authority. In this role, they led the Electrical Engineering and Controls sections, overseeing functions such as relay protection & control, operation control systems, electrical engineering, power system equipment, system testing, and meter engineering. Additionally, they provided engineering and technical support for NYPA's transmission and generation facilities, including project scoping, specification, design, and commissioning.

Recently, Frank was promoted to the position of Vice President Engineering at the New York Power Authority, starting in June 2021.

Frank Ronci, PE obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University at Buffalo in the years 2001-2005. Frank then pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems at New York University - Polytechnic School of Engineering from 2008-2009. Later, from 2015-2017, they furthered their education at Manhattan College, completing a Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Construction Management. In addition to their educational background, Frank Ronci, PE has obtained additional certifications including DBIA Professional from the Design-Build Institute of America, OSHA 30 from OSHA, and Professional Engineer from the New York State Education Department.
