Jake Dobkin has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Jake co-founded the Gothamist Network of local websites in 2003 and was the Publisher and Co-Founder until 2017 when they sold the business to DNAinfo. During their time at Gothamist, they managed sales, technology, operations, and legal staff and provided strategic advice to the editorial department. Jake then worked as the Vice President of Strategy and Expansion at DNAinfo from 2017 to 2018, where they provided strategic guidance after DNAinfo's acquisition of the Gothamist network. Following the closure of DNAinfo, Jake arranged the sale of the Gothamist and DNAinfo websites to public radio stations as the Head of Strategy at Gothamist. After this, they joined New York Public Radio as the Senior Director of Business Development and Strategy, where they lead business development and strategy projects across various brands and manages the Sponsorship business. Prior to these roles, Jake worked as a Senior Information Architect at IBM, designing information architecture for e-commerce and business-to-business websites, and as an Information Architect at Oven Digital, where they designed information architecture for e-commerce websites and consumer applications. Before their career in the digital industry, Jake worked as a Chemistry Teacher at Stuyvesant High School.

Jake Dobkin attended Stuyvesant High School from 1990 to 1994, where they obtained a Regents Diploma with a focus on Science and Mathematics. After graduating from high school, they enrolled at Columbia University from 1994 to 1998 and pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Medicine with an English Concentration. Following their undergraduate studies, Jake attended the NYU Stern School of Business from 2003 to 2005, where they earned an MBA in Finance and Management, Entrepreneurship, and Media. Additionally, in 1999, Jake spent a brief period at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, although specific details about their degree or field of study during this time are unavailable.
