Joseph Messina

Special Counsel To The Minority at New York State Senate

Joseph Messina has extensive experience in the New York State Senate, serving as Special Counsel to the Minority since February 2019 and previously as Counsel to the Minority Leader. From January 2012 to December 2018, Joseph held the position of Assistant Counsel to the Majority. Prior to that, Joseph practiced law as an Attorney and Principal at Joseph R. Messina from April 2009 to December 2011. Joseph's long tenure at the New York State Senate began in January 1970, culminating in the role of Senior Counsel to the Majority until December 2008. Joseph Messina earned a Juris Doctor degree from Albany Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Syracuse University's Maxwell School.
