New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA)
John J. Gallagher, Ed.D., serves as the Director of Music & Fine Arts for Longwood Central School District since January 2006, playing a key role in overseeing an award-winning K-12 arts program for a diverse student population. Gallagher is the founder and chairperson of the Long Island Scholar Artist Program and functions as the chairperson for public relations and information for the New York State School Music Association. Performance experience includes trombonist roles with the Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra and the Northport Community Band. Gallagher has held leadership positions in various music education organizations, including president of the New York State Council of Administrators of Music Education and co-chair of government relations for the Suffolk County Music Educators’ Association. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Education from Dowling College and a Master of Science in Music Education from Long Island University.
