Tony Affigne is an experienced political science scholar, currently serving as the Interim Department Chair of the Department of Black Studies and a Professor of Political Science at Providence College since September 1991. Affigne specializes in electoral politics, environmental politics, and American racial and ethnic politics, and acts as a faculty adviser for Pi Sigma Alpha. Additional roles include membership on the Long Term Care Coordinating Council for the State of Rhode Island since September 2021, and a political science author and textbook editor for New York University Press. Affigne has held visiting professor positions at Brown University, teaching courses related to ethnic studies, public affairs, and environmental justice. Previously, Affigne served on the City of Providence Ethics Commission and the Coastal Resources Management Council, contributing to significant regulatory efforts in Rhode Island. Affigne holds a PhD in Political Science and Public Policy from Brown University, alongside master's and undergraduate degrees in public administration and social theory from the University of Rhode Island and Brown University, respectively.
