Ed McIsaac is a seasoned diplomat currently serving as Counsellor (Trade and Environment) at the New Zealand Embassy in Washington since July 2023. With extensive experience at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade, McIsaac has held the position of Lead Adviser in the Trade Policy and Negotiations Division since February 2019, where responsibilities include leading trade negotiations and addressing trade issues. Previous roles include Deputy Head of Mission at the New Zealand Embassy in Turkey, where cultural adaptation involved language training in Turkish, and trade-related positions in various international locations including Pretoria and Wellington. McIsaac's educational background includes a Master’s Degree in International Relations from Victoria University of Wellington and a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Political Studies from the University of Auckland.
