Chief People Officer at New Zealand Foreign Affairs & Trade

Peter Taylor has a diverse and extensive work experience. Peter is currently serving as the Chief People Officer at the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade since February 2021. Prior to this, they worked at New Zealand Post for over a decade, holding various roles such as GM People Capability & Safety, Interim Chief People Officer, Head of People Engagement, Head of Safety & Wellbeing, and Head of People Services, Group People & Culture. Peter was responsible for managing a range of people services and implementing people strategies and programs.

Before joining New Zealand Post, Peter worked at the Inland Revenue Department as a Team Manager, Corporate HR from 1999 to 2004. Peter also had experience as an Administration and Finance Manager at Fotek School Portraits and a Training Manager at UCH. Peter began their career as a Sales Manager at the Farmers Trading Company in 1981.

Peter Taylor holds a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Management (Business Transformation & Change) from Otago Polytechnic | Te Pūkenga, which they completed in 2014. In 2005, they attended the University of Michigan - Stephen M. Ross School of Business for an unspecified program in HR. Prior to that, in 2003, they pursued Leadership studies at Mt Eliza Business School. Additionally, Peter Taylor has also studied HR Strategy in Transforming Organisations at the London Business School, although the dates of their attendance are not specified.
