Daniel Headifen

Programme Director Mechanical Facilities at KiwiRail

Daniel Headifen has extensive work experience in the engineering and transportation industry. Daniel began their career as an Assistant Engineer at Tranz Rail Ltd in 1999, and later took on the role of Structures Engineer at Broadcast Communications Ltd (BCL) in 2002. In 2004, they joined Capita Symonds as a Structural Engineer before moving on to Mouchel Parkman in 2005, where they served as a Team Leader.

In 2007, Daniel joined KiwiRail as a Project & Structures Engineer and worked their way up to become the Area Manager in 2012. Daniel then took on the role of Manager Civil Engineering before becoming the Professional Head Civil Engineering in 2014. From 2016 to 2019, Daniel took on additional roles at North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery (NCTIR), serving as the Rail Design Manager and later as the Rail Asset Owner.

Finally, Daniel returned to KiwiRail in 2018 as the Strategic Projects Interface Manager before assuming their current position as the Programme Director of Mechanical Facilities in June 2019.

Daniel Headifen completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury, where they attended from 1995 to 1998.
