Shawn Gillen

Shawn Gillen is an accomplished academic and administrator with extensive experience in English language and literature. Currently serving as Director at the School of Media Studies and the Arts at Beloit College since January 2024, Shawn also holds the position of Scholar-in-Residence at the Newberry Library since October 2021. At Beloit College, Shawn has been a Professor of English since September 1993 and has furthered the department's development as Department Chair of English and Media Studies. Educational qualifications include a PhD in English Language and Literature from the University of Minnesota (1988-1993) and a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Saint John's University, alongside a high school diploma from Saint Ignatius College Prep (1976-1980).
