Michael P. Demarco

Michael P. DeMarco, MBA, NHA, is the VP of Finance & HR and the Chief Financial Officer for NewCourtland and a member of the senior management team. He is directly responsible for the financial management division of the Network which includes finance, accounting, audit, contracts, third party reimbursement, risk insurance, budget and treasury functions. Since joining NewCourtland in 2003 as Manager of Accounting & Controls, Mr. DeMarco has steadily assumed additional responsibilities that have afforded him the opportunity to become an integral member of the senior management team.

Prior to joining NewCourtland, Mr. DeMarco was Regional Controller for Extendicare Health Inc., which operated over 200 senior health facilities across the United States. He was responsible for budgeting and reimbursement for the Eastern Region consisting of twenty-five Long Term/Sub-Acute Nursing and five Assisted Living Facilities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. While at Extendicare he obtained his Nursing Home Administrator license that further enhanced his understanding of economic drivers impacting the health care marketplace. While at Extendicare he was recognized with the “Rising Star” and “Leadership” awards for the Eastern Region. During this time period Mr. DeMarco was an active member of the Government Funding Committee for the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA), which included extensive presentation history on relevant topics.

Mr. DeMarco has held previous positions at Sun Healthcare as Regional Controller, Geriatric & Medical Centers as Regional Controller, and Philadelphia Geriatric Center as Assistant Controller. Mr. DeMarco also worked at William E. Tierney Health Care Financial Consultants as Staff Consultant providing reimbursement consulting and audit services for clients such as Temple, Thomas Jefferson and Cooper Hospitals plus various Long Term Health Care chains.

Mr. DeMarco is licensed by the Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators in the State of Pennsylvania. He holds a Pennsylvania Producer’s License in Life, Accident & Health Authorities. He earned a Masters of Business Administration from LaSalle University with a concentration in Health Care Administration. Mr. DeMarco graduated from LaSalle College with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting where he was also a member of the track team.
