Richard Metz

Senior Director of Research at NewLink Genetics

Richard Metz has worked in the scientific field since 1985. Richard began as a Graduate Student at New York University, followed by a Post Doctoral Fellow at BMS in 1990. In 1994, they became the Director of Molecular Biology at Apptec (QBI). From 1997 to 2001, they held the roles of Director of Product Development and Executive Director of Product Development at Valigen. In 2001, they co-founded PreGentis and served as the Chief Scientific Officer. From 2006 to 2017, they held various roles at LIMR Development Inc, including Principal Investigator, Chief Scientific Officer, Co-Founder, and Vice President of R&D. In 2017, they joined EnteroTek as the Chief Scientific Officer and in 2018, they became a Co-Founder of a self-employed venture.

Richard Metz received their BSc in Biochemistry from Purdue University between 1976 and 1980. Richard then went on to receive their MSc in Virology from the Weizmann Institute of Science between 1981 and 1983. Finally, they completed their Ph.D. in Pathology/Biochemistry from New York University between 1984 and 1990.
