Sandy Oxx is a seasoned professional in mental health training and education with extensive experience in both mental health advocacy and teaching. Currently serving as a Mental Health First Aid Trainer at Newport Mental Health since March 2017, Sandy facilitates workshops focusing on recognizing and responding to mental health disorders among young adults. Previous roles include Marketing and Communications Director at Newport Mental Health, where Sandy led initiatives such as a Speakers Bureau and public awareness campaigns. Additionally, Sandy has experience as an Adjunct Professor at the Community College of Rhode Island, teaching writing courses, and served as an English and Journalism Teacher at Portsmouth RI Schools for 15 years, instructing students in a range of literary and writing skills. As a former Board Member of Newport County Community Mental Health Center, Sandy contributed to community events and financial oversight. Sandy holds a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from the University of Rhode Island.
