Alastair Miller is a Non-Executive Director at [NewRiver REIT](/org/newriver-reit-plc). Alastair was previously an Advisor at Equilibrium Labs from March 2016 to June 2019. Prior to that, they were with [NewRiver REIT](/org/newriver-reit-plc) plc, Total Therapy, Westview Capital, and [New Look](/org/new-look), where they served as CFO from January 2000 to April 2014. Before that, they were Group Finance Director at RAC from April 1988 to July 1999. Alastair began their career as a Management Consultant at Price Waterhouse Management Consultants from August 1986 to March 1988.

Alastair Miller's educational career began at ICAEW, where they studied accountancy and earned their FCA designation. Alastair then went on to study economics at the University of Wales, Cardiff, and finally finished their schooling at Whitchurch, Cardiff.

Aaron Sarkaria is currently a Group FP&A Analyst at [NewRiver REIT](/org/newriver-reit-plc). Aaron has previously worked as a Finance Analyst at [BBC Studios](/org/bbc-studios) from January 2019 to March 2021 and as an Assistant Manager - Audit at Deloitte from August 2015 to January 2019.

Aaron Sarkaria was educated at Foxford Six Form College, where they achieved A Levels in Mathematics, Chemistry & Economics. Aaron then attended the [University of Nottingham](/org/university-of-nottingham), where they studied Finance, Accounting & Management and achieved a 2:1. Finally, they qualified as an ACA with the ICAEW.

Their manager is Adam Connor, Head of FP&A.

Aaron Sarkaria

Lawrence is a qualified chartered surveyor with over 5 years commercial property experience and joined NewRiver in September 2017. Prior to NewRiver, Lawrence was within the investment team at GVA where he focused on retail, office, industrial and portfolio sales and acquisitions acting for a variety of property companies, private equity and private investors across the UK.

Lawrence holds a BA in Geography from the London School of Economics and MSc in Real Estate from the University of Reading.

Lawrence Fisher

Lucy has over 13 years’ experience of corporate and consumer communications, PR and marketing, overseeing this function at NewRiver working with trade and national media, research partners and internal and external stakeholders across NewRiver’s asset management team, corporate pub portfolio matters and development projects.

Lucy began her career at the digital advertising agency ZenithOptimedia, part of Publicis Group, working on BT, [Aviva](/org/aviva-plc) and [Qantas](/org/qantas). Before joining NewRiver in 2011, Lucy moved in-house to drive strategic marketing and brand growth for the then start-up drinks company, Vita Coco coconut water.

Lucy Mitchell

Jamie is a Chartered Surveyor with over 10 years’ experience in the UK real estate market. He specialises in development across the office, retail and hotel sectors. Jamie has benefited from broad experience as a development manager at Miller Developments and Heathrow Airport, where he latterly secured planning for a £90m hotel development at Terminal 4.

Jamie is responsible for development management across the NewRiver portfolio.

Jamie Whitfield

Charlie Parker has served as Chief Executive of the Government of Jersey and Head of the Public Service for Jersey since January 2018. In this role, he has led an ambitious programme to transform and modernise Jersey’s public services and developed a major infrastructure vehicle for funding the Island’s infrastructure and regeneration plans. Charlie was previously Chief Executive of [Westminster City Council](/org/westminster-city-council) from December 2013 to December 2017 and Chief Executive of [Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council](/org/oldham-metropolitan-borough-council) from October 2008 to December 2013. Prior to this, he held a number of investment, development and regeneration roles across national and local government bodies

Charlie Parker

Will is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years of experience, having qualified at BDO LLP working in its Audit and Corporate Finance departments. Before joining NewRiver in June 2016, Will worked at [British Land](/org/british-land) for 5 years in a variety of finance roles, latterly in Investor Relations, and formerly within the Financial Reporting and Financial Planning & Analysis teams.

Will Hobman

Richard is IT Director at [NewRiver REIT](/org/newriver-reit-plc) and is responsible for the company’s IT systems.

Richard also has responsibility for all Hawthorn Leisure IT systems.

Richard has over 22 years’ in the UK property sector managing corporate IT systems.  Prior to joining NewRiver as Head of IT in 2016, Richard provided IT consultation services and was Head of IT for the property companies Halladale and [Stockland](/org/stockland-corporation-ltd) (UK).  

Richard Melville

Edith is a qualified Chartered Accountant having trained with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells. She has over 20 years experience  in the retail property sector, combining Finance, Operational and HR roles, specialising in advising business in strategic and operational matters. 

Edith became Head of HR at NewRiver in October 2018, having previously been an HR consultant to NewRiver, bringing her expertise and knowledge of talent development within the sector to the business. She was appointed COO of Hawthorn Leisure Ltd in May 2019, working alongside the existing Hawthorn leadership team.

Edith Monfries

Prior to joining NewRiver Ben was a project manager for a FTSE 100 company responsible for successfully delivering multiple of retail projects including new branches, trade parks and office fit-outs. Ben has a Bsc in construction management and is a Chartered Construction Manager.



Ben Green

Allan has over 25 years’ experience in the UK real estate market specialising in the retail sector. He started his career with Strutt & Parker in 1988 advising major property companies and institutions on retail investment and development. In 2002, Allan was appointed as retail director to Halladale and was responsible for coordinating the acquisition and implementation of the asset management strategies of over 20 shopping centres as well as acquiring and completing several profitable retail developments. In 2009 he co-founded NewRiver Retail.



Allan Lockhart

Member of the Executive Committee and Head of Asset Management, Emma has overarching responsibility for the financial and operational performance of the retail portfolio throughout the UK. Emma’s responsibilities also include oversight of NewRiver’s property management, rent collection and the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance programme. 

Emma is a qualified chartered surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in the retail property market. 

Launched in June 2020, Emma is one of nine Board Members on the Government’s High Street Task Force, following her role on the Govt’s High Streets Expert Panel and chaired by Sir John Timpson in 2019. The HSTF provides access to experts, case studies and practical solutions to local town leaders and Government to help support and revitalise UK high streets and town centres.

Emma also sits on the Commercial Committee of the British Property Federation. 

Emma Mackenzie

Member of the Executive Committee and responsible for Capital Markets and Retail Parks throughout the UK. Charles has over 20 years experience in the real estate investment and asset management sector.

Charles has benefited from the broad experience as an asset manager at F&C REIT and RREEF, on an advisory capacity at Cushman Wakefield and as a retailer advising [Specsavers](/org/specsavers) on their investment agency and development activity. Charles is responsible for acquisitions, disposals, development and implementation of asset management strategies, with particular focus on the retail warehouse sector.

Charles Spooner

Colin Rutherford

Justin has over 20 years of property management and development experience, having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1994 with [Savills](/org/savills), then subsequently moving to Cluttons land management and valuation team. In 1999 Justin joined specialist residential developer Pathfinder Properties PLC and in 2004 left Pathfinder and established Maxam Property Ltd, a private residential developer and consultancy company. The company has also carried out hotel development, strategic land planning and development consultancy to the renewable energy and zero carbon housing sector.

Justin was a member of the RICS Board of UK Education Standards for over 10 years to 2011, providing a link between the property industry and the academic sector. 

Justin brings specialist residential development to NewRiver, as applicable to redevelopment of the company's shopping centres, retail assets and pub portfolios and is also involved with development management of the existing assets.
