Chief Operating Officer & CFO at Newsweek

Alvaro Palacios is the current Chief Operating Officer / CFO at Newsweek. Prior to this, they were with Televisa Publishing + Digital as Head of US Operation (Managing Director) from January 2015 to December 2015. Alvaro was responsible for the US Business of Televisa Publishing but due to a reduction in company investment and a new Global CEO in Mexico, the transition to digital in the US Market slowed.

From January 2013 to December 2015, Alvaro was with DLA, Inc. as SVP Sales and Marketing. Alvaro oversaw the company’s sales, client services, business intelligence, and marketing activity. Alvaro defined and implemented a Business Intelligence solution, developed and executed company growth strategies to maximize ROI, and defined/implemented a continuous improvement process that increased client satisfaction (call center, social media, website).

During their time at DLA, Inc., Alvaro successfully grew sales of Claro Video at 2 retail chains in Mexico by 4000% and increased OTT subscribers by 140%+, decreased “churn” by 20%, and increased user engagement by 75%.

Alvaro Palacios has an MBA in finance from Universidad ORT Uruguay, a CPA from Universidad de la República, and is a graduate of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business's Strategic Financial Leadership Program. Alvaro has also completed courses at Harvard Business School in Communicating for Impact and Strategy Execution, and at the Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship in Japan, they completed a course in Total Quality Management: Quality Management Program.

They work with Nancy Cooper - Global Editor in Chief, Robert Lee - SVP Global Creative Director, and Dayan Candappa - Chief Strategy Officer. Alvaro Palacios reports to Dev Pragad, CEO. A direct report to Alvaro Palacios is and Leiann Kaytmaz - VP, HR Business Partner.
