John Colby Calhoun

John Colby Calhoun has an extensive work experience in the 3D printing industry. John Colby started their career at The Columbia Group, where they served as a SolidWorks Designer, CNC Programmer, and 3D Animator for various projects related to the US Defense Department. In 2000, they became a Senior SolidWorks Applications Engineer at Axiom Systems.

In 2001, Calhoun transitioned into the NASCAR industry, working as a NASCAR Race Engineer for Robert Yates Racing/Roush Yates Racing Engines. John Colby designed 3D printed and rapidly manufactured engine and car components, optimized through Finite Element Analysis Software. John Colby also implemented 3D Systems 7000 SLA technology into the Engine Research and Development Department.

Calhoun then joined ModernTech Corporation in 2004 as the 3D Printing Program Manager and Finite Element Analysis Applications Engineer. John Colby grew the 3D printing business to Platinum Reseller status for Z Corporation and organized 3D print seminars across 7 states.

In 2006, Calhoun started their own company, xlaform, specializing in 3D print processing equipment and chemical development. John Colby co-developed infusion processes and rapid manufacturing applications, while also establishing domestic and international business partnerships.

From 2009 to 2015, Calhoun worked at 3D Systems Corporation as the Senior Director of Sales for the Americas. John Colby managed the growth of the company's America's division, developed multi-tier distribution partnerships, and created a sales training and certification program for internal and partner salespeople.

Following their tenure at 3D Systems, Calhoun joined CadBlu Inc. in 2015 as a Director. John Colby significantly increased the performance of the sales team and played a crucial role in the development of the company's new Oregon division. John Colby also managed the acquisition of key accounts, such as Nike, Adidas, Laika, and Columbia.

In 2018, Calhoun joined XYZprinting as the Director of Additive. John Colby served as a product development and go-to-market strategist for their professional products. John Colby successfully negotiated and managed the sale of XYZ's industrial 3D printing division to Nexa3D. Additionally, they recruited 17 partners for America's channel, including major resellers in the 3D printing industry.

Currently, Calhoun holds the position of Director of Business Development at Nexa3D, starting in 2023.
