Prior to their work at Philips, José briefly worked as a Commercial Sales Manager at Grupara, where they were responsible for prospecting and hiring advertisers and partners, as well as strategic planning and commercial management.

Earlier in their career, José worked at UFSCar as a Support Analyst, Instructor, and Commercial of Unidade de Gestão de Resíduos (UGR). José Renato contributed to the development of an online laboratory stock control system and provided training and support to system users.
