Alex Bartlett

Senior Research Associate II at NextRNA Therapeutics

Alex Bartlett is a Senior Research Associate II in Computational Biology at NextRNA Therapeutics. Alex has always been interested in the role of RNA in disease and how to modulate it. In their previous position at Arrakis Therapeutics, they executed high throughput FACS-seq screens to identify interactions between RNA and RNA-binding proteins using CRISPR/Cas9. Alex also utilized R and Python to generate analysis pipelines and mine next-generation sequencing data yielded by screens to monitor changes in gene expression.

At their current position at NextRNA Therapeutics, they are responsible for identifying and modulating ncRNAs and RNA-binding proteins that influence disease functions. Alex is also working on designing and implementing a user-friendly data analysis tool in RShiny to facilitate rapid interpretation of a variety of high-throughput cell-based screens of thousands of unique compounds.

Alex has always been driven to find new ways to improve existing therapies and to develop new ones. In their previous position at Minerva Biotechnologies, they were part of a team developing CAR-T cancer immunotherapies that target the MUC1* receptor present on 80% of solid cancer tumors. Alex performed cancer and T cell co-culture in vitro experiments, ELISAs, qPCR, flow cytometry, Western blots, and in vivo tumor growth studies in mice.

Alex is passionate about their work and is constantly looking for new ways to improve existing therapies and to develop new ones.

Alex Bartlett has a Master of Science from The Johns Hopkins University in the field of Bioinformatics, which they earned in 2020-2022. Alex also has a Bachelor of Science from Harvard University in the field of Bioengineering, which they earned in 2013-2017.
