Head Of Cyber Operations at NFU Mutual

Steven Shepherd has over 25 years of work experience, primarily in the field of cyber operations and information security. Steven is currently the Head of Cyber Operations at NFU Mutual since 2022. Prior to that, they held various roles within the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1996 to 2022, including Head of Defensive Cyber Operations, Chief of Staff to Data, Information and Cyber Security Directorate, and Head of Information Security and Assurance Officers.

Steven Shepherd obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Communications Systems Engineering from Bournemouth University in the years 2007 to 2009. Steven then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Advanced Security and Digital Forensics, specifically the NCSC Accredited MSc, from Edinburgh Napier University from 2017 to 2020. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications, including the Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in June 2022, the GIAC Law of Data Security & Investigations (GLEG) from GIAC Certifications in October 2021, the GIAC Advisory Board from the same institution in June 2021, the GIAC Strategic Planning, Policy, and Leadership (GSTRT) from GIAC Certifications in June 2021, the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) from ISACA in July 2020, the Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council in May 2020, the QA Certified GDPR Foundation and Practitioner from APMG International in September 2019, the (ISC)2 Security CISSP (ISC2-CISSP) from (ISC)² in August 2019, the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management in March 2019, the Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP) from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in May 2018, the ISO27001 Certified ISMS Lead Implementer (CIS LI) qualification (ISO 17024-certificated) from IBITGQ in May 2018, the Level 5 Management Coaching and Mentoring from the Chartered Management Institute in April 2018, the Management of Risk M_O_R Foundation from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in November 2016, the Management of Risk M_O_R Practitioner from the same institution in November 2016, and finally the Incorporated Engineer (IEng) from the Engineering Council in May 2016.
