Maarten J. van der Laan serves as a Technical Advisor for Health and Care Workforce at the World Health Organization since April 2024. In addition, Maarten holds multiple roles at NFU - Nederlandse Federatie van Universitair Medische Centra, including Chair and Vice Chairman of the Consortium Quality of Care since December 2019. Maarten is also an Advisory Board Member at Cochrane since April 2021 and has been a Vascular Surgeon and Program Director for the Vascular Surgery Training Program at UMCG since September 2013. Previous experience includes position as a Vascular Surgeon at Ommelander Hospital Group and various surgical roles at AMC and Tergooiziekenhuizen. Maarten's education includes a Ph.D. in Vascular Surgery from Utrecht University and a Master’s Degree in Quality and Safety in Healthcare from Radboud University, alongside numerous surgical fellowships and residencies.
