Vibeke Vandrup Martens

Researcher, Archaeologist at Niku

Vibeke Vandrup Martens is an experienced researcher and archaeologist with a focus on the impacts of climate change on heritage preservation, in situ preservation of archaeological deposits, urban and rural medieval archaeology, and medieval pottery. Since April 2006, Vibeke has worked at NIKU, contributing significant research and practice in these areas. Prior to this, Vibeke served as an archaeologist at the Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo, from May 2000 to March 2006, where responsibilities included excavation, finds processing, report writing, and editing/publication. Additionally, Vibeke was a museum curator at Kastelholm Castle in Aaland, Finland, from February 1999 to April 2000, engaged in excavation planning, processing finds, database development, and exhibition work. Academically, Vibeke holds a PhD in geoarchaeology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and two Master’s degrees in medieval archaeology from Aarhus University and Lund University.
