Nicole Bale is an accomplished scientific professional with extensive experience in marine research, currently serving as the Head of the Analytical Laboratory at NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research since June 2013. Nicole's work includes significant projects on microbial membrane lipids and the role of marine symbiotic heterocystous cyanobacteria in the nitrogen cycle. Previous research at NIOZ focused on nitrogen cycling microorganisms in the North and Wadden Seas, while a PhD conducted at Plymouth Marine Laboratory examined chlorophyll-a transformation products in phytoplankton. Nicole holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol and an MSci in Chemistry with study in continental Europe.
