Amit Verma has a diverse work experience that spans several industries and sectors. Amit began their career in 1998 at Infosys, where they worked as a Software Engineer and later as a System Analyst. After that, they joined Manhattan Associates as a Senior System Analyst. In 2004, they joined Adobe as a Computer Scientist.
In 2005, Amit made a career shift and joined the Indian Forest Service (IFS) with the Government of India. Amit held various positions within the IFS, including Divisional Forest Officer and Deputy Conservator of Forest. During this time, they worked in different locations across Uttarakhand, India, and gained experience in wildlife conservation and forestry management.
In 2020, they joined the NITI Aayog, where they held multiple roles, including Private Secretary to the Honourable Vice Chairman and Director of Energy. Currently, they serve as the Head of Circular Economy at NITI Aayog. Their responsibilities at NITI Aayog include overseeing matters related to economics and finance, trade and commerce, G20, disinvestments, and circular economy.
Throughout their career, Amit has developed a strong background in economics, finance, environmental conservation, and sustainable development.
Amit Verma obtained a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay between 1994 and 1998. Amit then pursued a master's degree in Forestry, earning an M.Sc. from the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy from 2005 to 2007. In 2019, they attended the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, where they obtained a Master of Management Studies (Public Policy). Recently, in 2021-2022, they studied Environmental Law at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, earning a Postgraduate Degree in the field.
