Alexander Russell-Smith

Alexander Russell-Smith has a diverse work experience spanning from 2010 to the present. Alexander currently holds the position of Director of Financial Operations at Nivoda since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked at MFS Africa where they had multiple roles, including Operations Director from November 2021 to January 2023, Strategic Operations and Projects Manager from April 2021 to November 2021, and Post-Merger Integration Leader from August 2020 to April 2021. Before joining MFS Africa, they worked at The Weir Group PLC, starting as a Group Senior Internal Auditor in 2015 and later taking on roles as Regional Finance Controls Manager and Regional Financial Controller. Alexander also has experience working at EY as an Executive and Associate, where they led and executed assurance engagements. Alexander'searliest work experience was as a Summer Intern Economist at the Department of Energy and Climate Change in 2010, where they conducted research and performed economic evaluation tasks.

Alexander Russell-Smith's education history begins with their undergraduate studies at The University of Edinburgh. From 2007 to 2011, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Environmental Studies. Following this, they enrolled at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and obtained the designation of Chartered Accountant from 2011 to 2014.

In 2020, Alexander pursued further education at the University of Warwick - Warwick Business School. Alexander completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) program during that year, with a specific focus on Business Administration and Management.

Continuing their professional development, Alexander participated in the Leadership Program for African Managers and Entrepreneurs at the African Management Institute. This program, which has no specified start year, was completed by Alexander in the year 2021.

Currently, Alexander is undertaking a Certificate in Digital Money from the Digital Frontiers Institute, which they are expected to complete by 2022.
