Darcel Rickard

Environmental Researcher at NIWA

Darcel Rickard is an experienced environmental researcher at NIWA since February 2016, with a previous role as a coastal technician at the same organization from July 2006 to October 2012. Additionally, Darcel serves as a board member for Te Kopua 2B3 Incorporation, a small multiply owned Maori land block in Whaingaroa, Raglan, since October 2008. In the media sector, Darcel has held the position of managing director at Top Shot Media Limited since April 2015, and produced the documentary series Waka Huia for Scottie Productions Limited from August 2012 to January 2016. Moreover, Darcel has experience in directing and researching science and Maori language series for Maori Television. Darcel obtained a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science from The University of Waikato, where studies were completed between 2001 and 2006, following education at Raglan Area School.
