Jochen Schmidt has a diverse work experience in the field of environmental science. Jochen started their career at Landcare Research in 2001 as a Scientist and worked there for two years. In 2003, they joined NIWA as a Scientist, specializing in Catchment Hydrology Modeling. Jochen then progressed to the role of Group Manager, Applied Hydrology in 2009, and subsequently became the Chief Scientist in Environmental Information in 2010.
Jochen Schmidt obtained a Diploma in Geography from Heidelberg University in the years 1990 to 1996. Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. in Geography from The University of Bonn, completing it from 1995 to 2001.
