John Mooney is an experienced executive director and founding editor, having worked at NJ Spotlight News since 2019. Prior to that, John was the CEO and education writer at NJ Spotlight from 2009 to 2019. With a background in journalism, John was a senior education reporter at the Newark Star-Ledger from 1999 to 2008 and an education reporter and county political reporter at the Bergen Record from 1989 to 1999. John graduated from Wesleyan University in 1982 with a BA in American Studies.
