John Faford, CPA, currently serves as the Finance and Budget Director at the New Jersey School Boards Association since October 2016, where responsibilities include financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, as well as developing pricing for products and services and conducting financial modeling for strategic initiatives. Prior to this role, John held the position of Finance Director at American Water from 2007 to 2016, overseeing financial management for over 50 water and wastewater contracts across the U.S. and Canada, and managing financial reporting and modeling for new business opportunities. John's experience also includes serving as a Director at Verizon from 1989 to 2007, where financial forecasting for fiber optic network deployment was a key achievement, and managing international investments. Earlier in John's career, from 1981 to 1989, John worked as an Audit Manager at Deloitte, supervising audits across various industries. John Faford earned a BS in Accounting from Drexel University, having studied there from 1976 to 1981.

New Jersey School Boards Association
Established in 1914, the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) is a federation of all of the state's local boards of education. The 4,800 local board members who comprise our membership are the largest group of elected and appointed public officials in New Jersey. The Association provides training and technical assistance to these members, all of whom serve without compensation. In addition, the Association advocates the education, health, and safety interests of New Jersey's public school students and school districts. Local board of education members are the Association's core member group. However, NJSBA extends the privilege of associate membership to individuals and organizations whose work or interests address the concerns and mission of the Association.
