Thomas Skjærlund Grønnebæk

Thomas Skjærlund Grønnebæk has worked in a variety of roles since 2014. Thomas Skjærlund was an Instructor at Randers Sportsskole in 2014, a Teacher at Egå Gymnasium in 2015, a Test Assistant at ACTIVE institute in 2015, a Visiting Research Fellow at Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in 2019, and a Clinical Trial Manager and Clinical Trial Administrator at NMD Pharma in 2020. During their PhD at Aarhus University from 2016 to 2020, Thomas studied how cardiovascular diseases such as Chronic Heart Failure and Peripheral Artery Disease affect skeletal muscle function, structure, and metabolism, as well as the effects of exercise and intermittent ischemia. Thomas Skjærlund applied a range of methodological approaches, including high resolution respirometry, electron microscopy, stable isotope (D2O) tracer technique, immunoblotting, spectrophotometry, histochemistry, and clinical and functional outcomes such as 6MWT, dynamometry, and QoL assessments.

Thomas Skjærlund Grønnebæk attended Marselisborg Gymnasium from 2007 to 2010. Thomas Skjærlund then attended Aarhus University, where they earned a BSc in Sport Science from 2012 to 2015. Thomas Skjærlund then continued their studies at Aarhus University, earning an MSc in Sport Science at Aarhus University with a focus on Muscle Biology from 2015 to 2018. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.d.) from Aarhus University from 2016 to 2020.
